About The Piano

The piano is a 101 year old Bechstein 6'7" grand (not a baby) that I refinished a few years ago. I wrote "There Was A Time" & "A Star for the Night" on that piano, but didn't actually use it on the recording. Brand new, a piano like this would retail for about $80,000. Now you can understand why we own a 101 year old version.

About Me

I'm a classically trained pianist from way back (I can't remember not playing). It's evident in my music that I like to use classical sounding piano riffs and mix them with more contemporary backbeats. I'll take an acoustic piano over an electronic version anyday. My greatest influences were the Beatles and then later Elton John and Billy Joel. My melodies are simple and my lyrics uncomplicated. My most successful songwriting technique has been to write music first and lyrics later, although occasionally a song will pop into my head lyrics first. Songwriting is one of my great passions, and a gift I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I began performing at a piano bar and eventually in live bands: City Lights, Force-A-Habit, High Risk, HotWired and Gunshy. I was the primary songwriter for the last few bands. I definitely got the recording bug when HotWired went into the studio to record two self-produced releases. When I grew tired of performing, I discovered that home recording equipment had gotten very sophisticated. I knew where my heart belonged. Completing this project on my own terms has been the realization of a lifelong dream. I only hope that with a good marketing strategy, my music can make it into the right hands.

About the Project

I can't say I'm the brains behind this operation because that credit would have to go to the "lamster" (Joanne). However, I am the major creative force behind Kanned Lamb. Together as a team, we compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses. Since we've had success in the past marketing my music, we decided to try it again on a much larger scale. The result: Slap Happy Productions. Besides, I figure my odds at this are better than buying lotto tickets.
